What is the mission of the National Media Market?
NMM was established to provide an opportunity for exhibitors/distributors to show their new releases in the most convenient, cost-effective way possible and for buyers to preview, select and negotiate the best deal. Rules for participation were developed and enforced to provide a level playing field for all. NMM exhibitors have expanded to include platforms and library services companies.

What is “Market Mania?”
This showcase on the opening day highlights participating exhibitors’ newest releases or product developments. Market Mania is the only screening event that is not held in the individual exhibitors suites, but rather in a large ballroom where all attendees gather. These “Sneak Previews” are a good way to help you identify the vendors that are of interest to you and maximize your time by setting your own priorities during the rest of the Market.

What is the “Best of Show” award?
Established in 2007 as an informal vote to determine attendees' favorite film at the Market, Best In Show has been overhauled to improve its relevance to participating exhibitors, and to help attendees identify particularly noteworthy films at the conference.  This year, a jury appointed by the NMM Board of Directors will screen all nominated films and select up to five finalists, which will be given special attention at events during the Portland conference.  The winner of the Best in Show award will be announced at a ceremony on the final day of the conference. Exhibitors

Is it possible for a distributor/producer to attend NMM without exhibiting?
Yes, NMM offers a favorable corporate / non-buyer registration rate.

What is the criterion for exhibitor participation?
Exhibitors must own or be licensed to sell on an exclusive basis, the non-theatrical distribution rights, including public performance rights, to materials being screened at the Market.

Buyers

Can I volunteer to help out at the event?
Yes, we welcome all volunteers. We need volunteers for planning as well as on site at the conference.A call for volunteers will be sent before the conference.

Anyone who evaluates or purchases educational motion media in various formats for K-12, colleges/universities, public libraries and educational broadcasting.

How do I register as a buyer?
A registration link is provided on the NMM website, www.nmm.net to a secure site. Payment can be made with credit card, ACH, or invoice.

What does my registration include?
The registration fee pays for 3 luncheons, 2 receptions, a printed program guide, and participation in daily professional development sessions.

Where do I make reservations for a room?
Links to the Market hotel are posted on the NMM website. The room rate for 2017 is $165/night plus tax.

When will I receive my attendee badge?
When checking in at the registration desk you will receive a tote bag with the program guide, badges and assorted handouts and give-aways.

How do I make arrangements for special needs/disabilities?
The Market hotel is ADA compliant, and can provide auxiliary aids and services. Service animals are allowed for persons with disabilities.

Can I bring my spouse?
Yes. The companion rate for the full Market is $185. This fee covers 3 lunches, and 2 receptions.
