Join us in Lexington, Kentucky for the 30th National Media Market, September 22–26, 2008

Screenings will be held at the Embassy Suites, an all-suite hotel that offers spacious living rooms for setting up screening stations.

Market attendees will be staying at Griffin Gate Marriott Resort, Kentucky’s only four-star, four-diamond resort and Spa, which will also be the site for all activities other than screening, such as the Large Group Presentations Market Mania Clips and More, all professional development sessions and receptions.

If you evaluate or purchase motion media, broadcast or digital rights, the Market is the premier event of our industry. You will find everything from award winning stand-alone titles to innovative delivery systems and proven educational technology intended to support your choices of educational video content.

Screening
For four days 55 of the nation’s top quality educational media producers and distributors offer on-demand previews of new releases, products and services. Company representatives are available to discuss purchase options and license agreements customized to the needs of your institution or agency.

Best of Show
The Market is an opportunity for exhibitors to introduce new programs and have them evaluated by experts in the field. Attendees vote for their favorite program and the Best of Show Award is presented to the program which has received the most votes at the closing reception of the Market.

NMM and NETA Collaborate!
The National Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA) is a professional association that serves public television and educational entities since 1967. NETA will host an education professional’s day on Monday, September 22nd, in conjunction with NMM. The agenda will feature valuable professional development for outreach professionals, producers, and education staff focused on emerging technologies and industry-wide initiatives.

Digital Video Licensing Discussion Forum
Join librarians, media professionals and distributors from across the country on Monday afternoon at the Griffin Gate Marriott Resort. A primary goal of this meeting will be to define and discuss the nature and range of models for licensing digital video on demand. The meeting will focus on exploring the present and future feasibility of various models in diverse institutional settings, as well as identifying the advantages of disadvantages of each for both distributors and librarians.

As preparation for this meeting, a white paper has been developed in an attempt to outline some of the central issues and challenges currently at hand. The Digital Video Licensing White Paper has been posted here. To comment on the white paper, please visit the blog set up for that purpose.

Preferred Pricing
The registration for four days, including luncheons and two receptions, is only $190! When you consider that vendor-discounts and special pricing available only at the Market will likely cover most of the cost of your attendance, it is a great bargain. If you qualify for any of the discounted registration fees listed below, you will be able to select the appropriate fee when you register online.

Visit the NMM 2008 Wiki!

The haunted Mansion at Griffin Gate Marriott Resort
You will have an opportunity to dine at this antebellum mansion turned restaurant on the Marriott’s property and perhaps experience the presence of a former residence, affectionately referred to as Greta.

The staff has reported odd occurrences, such as keys being moved, the fireplaces turning off and on by themselves, feelings of being watched, instances of being touched by unseen hands, cold spots, items being knocked from the mantles, and sightings of a little girl on the staircase.
